French Lower Rhine Army on August 28 1757

On August 28 1757, the French Lower Rhine Army, commanded by Richelieu, consisted of:

  • 95 infantry bns, among which:

  • 3 light troop units
    • 2 units with the Main Body
    • 1 unit with Broglie Corps

On the same day several other troops were in garrison duties or approaching Halberstadt:

  • 54 infantry bns, among which:
    • 6 bns in Hanover on their way to Halberstadt
    • 3 bns in Brunswick and Wolfenbüttel
    • 7 bns in Hesse
    • 32 bns in East Frisia, Westphalia and Rheinland
  • 2 artillery bns
    • 1 artillery bn in Hanover on their way to Halberstadt
    • 1 artillery bn in East Frisia, Westphalia and Rheinland
  • 57 cavalry sqns (including Gendarmerie, heavy cavalry, dragoons and hussars), among which:
    • 4 sqns in Celle
    • 4 sqns in Hanover on their way to Halberstadt
    • 6 sqns in Brunswick and Wolfenbüttel
    • 4 sqns marching to Halberstadt
    • 17 sqns in Hesse
    • 20 sqns in East Frisia, Westphalia and Rhinelands
  • 1 light troop unit
    • 2 detachments (350 men) in Celle
    • 1 unit marching to Halberstadt
