Description

In mid-August 1759, an Austro-Imperial army was operating in Saxony. The order of battle of this army is detailed in the present article.

Reichsarmee and Austrian Contingent

Commander-in-Chief: Field Marshal von Pfalz-Zweibrücken

The order of battle is taken from the work of the Grosser Generalstab Kriegsgeschichtliche Abteilung II and from Boehm and Rottgardt.

Reichsarmee: 27 bns, 23 grenadier coys, 23 sqns, 35 guns.

Austrian Contingent (k. k.): 28 sqns, 4 grenzers bns.

All together 13,493 foot, 5,870 horse and 2,647 grenzers for a total of some 22,010 men. In addition, there were about 2,313 men in garrison in Leipzig, Konigshofen and Schmakalden.

Field Marshal Prince Friedrich von Pfalz-Zweibrücken (17 bns, 12 grenadier coys, 16 sqns; for a total of 8,367 foot and 1,957 horse)

FML Prinz von Stolberg (6 bns, 6 grenadier coys, 7 sqns 2,940 foot, 811 horse plus 2 Grenzer bns, 1,292 men)

FML von Rosenfeld (4 bns, 5 grenadier coys, 11 sqns 2,186 foot, 2,248 horses plus 2 Grenzer bns, 1,076 men)

Major-General von Luzinsky, (9 sqns, 854 horse plus 279 Grenzers)

in Leipzig: 1,013 foot

in Konigshofen: 600 foot

in Schmakalden: 700 foot
