Origin and History
The regiment was raised on September 2, 1748 as Jensen Infantry Regiment. It was formed from the 3 companies of Zülow Infantry stationed at Rostock.
In 1754, when Hans Joachim von Zülow became colonel of the regiment, it was renamed Jung-Zülow to distinguish it from Zülow Infantry which was designated as Alt-Zülow Infantry. Jung-Zülow Infantry counted 5 companies of 80 men. Each company had 12 grenadiers.
In 1756 the regiment counted 5 companies with 283 men fit for duty
In 1760 the regiment was augmented to 8 companies
During the Seven Years' War, the chef of the regiment was:
- from the end of 1754 to 1763: Colonel Hans Joachim von Zülow
In 1763 the regiment was renamed as Gluer Infantry Regiment.
