Introduction

Until 1756, each of the four old regiments (Serbskiy, Gruzinskiy, Moldavskiy and Vengerskiy) was subdivided in 10 companies. At the beginning of 1757, squadrons were formed, each squadron consisting of 2 companies. Each regiment carried 10 standards.

Composition and Organisation

Each field hussar regiment consisted of 35 officers, 986 men including 106 non-combatants. More precisely, a field hussar regiment consisted of:

  • Staff
  • 5 squadrons, each of:
    • 2 companies, each of :
      • 3 officers
      • 6 NCOs
      • 2 drummers
      • 80 hussars
      • 4 non-combatants

Train

The train of each regiment included 10 ammunition-carts.
