Origin and History

Private of Württemberg Feldjäger zu Fuss in 1759 - Copyright: Franco Saudelli

One company of Feldjäger zu Fuss (Foot Jagers) was raised in 1759 as part of the Feldjägerkorps.

By 1759, in his Etat des Trouppes de S.A.S. Monseigneur le Duc de Virtemberg et Theck sur pié en 1759, Jacques André Frederic reported 2 companies for a total of about 200 men.

During the Seven Years' War, the successive Kommandeure of the regiment were:

  • 1759: Major von Weitershausen
  • 1760: Major Georg Friedrich Böcklin von Böcklinsau

The unit was disbanded in 1765.

Service during the War

The unit took part to the campaigns of 1759 and 1760 in Hessen and Saxony.
