6 The French left wing (Volontaires on foot) marches through the forest
7 The French right (dragoons and mounted Volontaires under Closen) attacks the Allied left flank
8 The Allied cavalry is overwhelmed and finds cover in the woods before rallying
9 The French centre (dragoons under Scey) attacks
10 The Allied infantry retreats, taking position in the woods
11 The disordered French cavalry is driven back by the countercharge of the Allied cavalry
12 La Ferronaye Dragons countercharge, supported by a salvo from the Volontaires of Saint-Victor, the Allied cavalry breaks
13 Brunswick has enough time to retreat to Burg Gemünden
14 Meanwhile the Royal Allemand Cavalry Brigade is sent through the woods parallel to the Ohm River to cut the line of retreat of the Allies
15 But Luckner’s Corps arrives on the Nieder Ohmen heights and stops the Royal Allemand Brigade with a lively cannonade
16 The Hereditary Prince finds enough time to escape across the Ohm
