Contemporary portrait of Frederick II (the Great), king of Prussia. The portrait was painted in 1763 at the Castle of Salzdahlum, the summer residence of Frederick's sister, Philippine Charlotte, Duchess of Brunswick. This is the only portrait for which Frederick II served as a model during his reign.
